Angel Clark talks with Eamon James Cahall the manager of the Facebook page Grow Food, Not Lawns.
Grow Food, Not Lawns Facebook page.
Food Not Lawns was founded in 1999 by a group of Food Not Bombs activists in Eugene, Oregon. In 2006, a co-founder of the group, Heather Jo Flores, published her book, Food Not Lawns, How to Turn your Yard into a Garden and Your Neighborhood into a Community. Now, with over 50 chapters worldwide, we are a global community of avant gardeners, working together to grow and share food, seeds, skills and resources. Here’s a fun historical timeline (it’s a work in progress!)
Our first logo. We printed patches with this logo in 1999 and spread them around the activist community. In 2000, Harper’s Magazine printed this image in their article about the WTO actions in Seattle.
